Fair: fair trade or direct trade
Our ultimate goal: equal and direct relationships with cooperatives and/or farmers . We want to give them ownership in the coffee chain and grow together towards climate-proof plantations.
If this is not (yet) possible, we choose FTO. Through these labels we can be sure that farmers receive support to provide for their livelihood and to invest in their coffee cultivation.

This coffee is the Red Catuaí variety with lots of fruit, a full body, and a refined, elegant taste.
About coffee from Nicaragua
It was not until 1840 that coffee began to gain economic importance in Nicaragua. During the dictatorship of the Somoza family between 1940 and 1980, the coffee sector suffered severe blows, with a particularly heavy impact on farmers. In the 1980s, the Sandinista revolution and civil war once again had a profound effect on coffee cultivation. Plantations were abandoned, infrastructure was destroyed, and exports collapsed. However, coffee also became a symbol of resistance and recovery in the years that followed. After the war in the 1990s, farmers began to regroup, putting Nicaragua back on the international coffee map. Unfortunately, Hurricane Mitch in 1998 caused another tragedy: mudslides, landslides, and floods destroyed many coffee plantations. Production and exports declined dramatically, and it took several years to rebuild.
Fortunately, recent years have been better, and the natural disaster caused by Mitch also led to more climate-resistant solutions and innovations. A lot has been invested in infrastructure and soil management. As a result, the quality of cultivation has improved enormously. Coffees from Nicaragua typically have complex and fruity flavors and a clean acidity.

uitleg
Grinding degree
Adjust your grind size to the brewing method to get the most out of your coffee. With some brewing methods, the coffee is in contact with water for a long time (requires a coarser grind), in others very short (finer grinding degree). It is therefore important that there is no over- or under-extraction. Your coffee tastes either too strong/intense or too weak/watery.
French press/cafetière: Ground
Filter and Aeropress: Ground
Bialetti/mocha pot: Finely ground
Espresso/porta filter: Finely ground
Can't find the right grind size? Or would you rather grind your own beans? With a coffee grinder, you can make your coffee exactly the way you like it. Order your coffee grinder here.
Nespresso compatibel
