Impact: female producers & direct trade

In May 2023, we visited the farms that provide this blend. All feminine power and passion; on the one hand Ellen Fontana who actively ensures the preservation of 70,000 trees on her plantation and on the other the women's community of Matão who base themselves on the principles of permaculture.

What's special
about this coffee

The image of Brazilian coffee plantations is one of endless rows of coffee plants where monoculture is the norm.

Our partner Capricornio, on the other hand, groups small and medium-sized visionary farmers who show a different face with great expertise and passion: integration of shade trees and other crops & active and organic soil enrichment, creating resilient ecosystems again. Moreover, Capricornio makes it a mission to spread this knowledge.

About coffee from Nicaragua

It was not until 1840 that coffee began to become economically important in Nicaragua. During the dictatorship of the Somoza family in the period between 1940 and 1980, the coffee sector was hit hard with especially severe impact on the farmers. In 1998, Hurricane Mitch brought another tragedy to the sector.

Fortunately, recent years have been better for the coffee growers so quality of cultivation has improved tremendously. The coffees from Nicaragua possess typically complex and fruity flavors and a clean acidity.

Just a wonderful coffee to drink. In other places I don't like the coffee, I drink it black and then you can really taste the difference.
