Fair: fair trade or direct trade
Our ultimate goal: equal and direct relationships with cooperatives and/or farmers . We want to give them ownership in the coffee chain and grow together towards climate-proof plantations.
If this is not (yet) possible, we choose FTO. Through these labels we can be sure that farmers receive support to provide for their livelihood and to invest in their coffee cultivation.

What's special about this coffee
This microstation was established in 2019 with the ambition of uniting community coffee farmers. Collaboration would help them with quality control, knowledge sharing and meeting market demands. Despite many challenges such as lack of funding, security and climate issues, their motivation remains strong. The collaboration not only brought better prices and access to knowledge, but also had social impact: less gender-based violence, changing mindsets and a stronger sense of community. Coffee also remains important to them in the fight against climate change, through an agroforestry ecosystem that contributes to biodiversity and sustainability.
About coffee from Uganda
Uganda is one of the only countries in the world where Robusta coffee grows wild. The plant is indigenous, is genetically superior and is the basis for much robusta research. In addition, Uganda is gaining notoriety for its arabicas with floral and fruity profiles. Many farmers there combine coffee with beekeeping, vanilla, bananas and avocados. This provides additional income as well as a healthier ecosystem. Uganda is also strongly committed to female leadership in coffee.
Producers & cooperative
In 2018, Andy, Aggrey and Jason founded Zombo Coffee Partners Ltd with a clear mission: to provide an answer to the three biggest problems facing farmers in the Zombo region - lack of infrastructure, low quality and no access to the market. Andy, creator of the microstation model, believes farmers can become self-reliant and independent. By paying them above-market prices for coffee berries and giving them a bonus for quality, they gain more control over their future. Together with Aggrey, he helps farmers with processing and technology, and encourages them to manage microstations themselves. In this poor region inhabited by the Alur community, coffee was for a long time just an extra. Now that is starting to change: quality pays off, and farmers are investing in their business and their children's future.

uitleg
Grinding degree
Adjust your grind size to the brewing method to get the most out of your coffee. With some brewing methods, the coffee is in contact with water for a long time (requires a coarser grind), in others very short (finer grinding degree). It is therefore important that there is no over- or under-extraction. Your coffee tastes either too strong/intense or too weak/watery.
French press/cafetière: coarse grind
Filter and Aeropress: medium grind
Bialetti/mocha pot: fine grind
Espresso/porta filter: very fine grind
Nespresso compatibel
