Fair: fair trade or direct trade

Our ultimate goal: equal and direct relationships with cooperatives and/or farmers . We want to give them ownership in the coffee chain and grow together towards climate-proof plantations.

If this is not (yet) possible, we choose FTO. Through these labels we can be sure that farmers receive support to provide for their livelihood and to invest in their coffee cultivation.

What's special
about this coffee

Despite the country's turbulent history, Rwanda is now one of the darlings of the specialty coffee world. Musasa is the name of the washing station (processing plant) that was taken over by Sucafina in 2013. They now work with 1,750 small-scale farmers (who have an average of only 0.20 hectares of land). Regular training sessions are organized for them on composting, renovation, and other specific topics. Musasa uses an eco-pulper that is much more environmentally friendly than traditional pulpers in terms of water consumption.

Producers & cooperative

Musasa Washing Station, which unites 1,750 small-scale farmers. Twenty-three percent of these farmers are younger than 35, and the organization is strongly committed to these young coffee farmers, who represent the future of Rwandan coffee. Despite the small scale of these coffee farmers, they are regularly immersed in organic farming techniques, renovation, and harvesting methods to help them grow and improve quality.

Top!
