This Sisters' Surprise coffee from Colombia is juicy and bright, with hints of dark chocolate and grapes. Enjoy it both as a filter coffee and as an espresso.

What's special
about this coffee

Every year, we purchase coffee through Ilse from Café Velvet, as she consistently selects the finest beans after visiting the farmers and conducting numerous tastings. This time, the coffee comes from the Granja Paraíso-92 family farm. Wilton comes from a coffee family. His father encouraged Wilton to study, because he wanted a different and better life for his son. Wilton went to university, but focused on coffee cultivation and processing methods. He quickly realized that more specialized knowledge leads to better coffee.

Wilton set new standards, experimenting with processing methods that improve both flavor profiles and shelf life. He has his own laboratory where he can meticulously monitor and improve innovative processing methods.

About coffee from Piendamó

Piendamó is located in Cauca, in the Colombian Andes. The region is part of what is known as “Café de Cauca,” a defined terroir that stretches across several municipalities, including Piendamó. A climate of fairly cool nights, moderate days, fog, and frequent cloud cover allows the coffee berries to ripen slowly, giving them a remarkable aromatic complexity. In recent years, the region has focused on sustainability programs: shade trees, soil restoration, reforestation, etc.

Producers & cooperative

Wilton Benitez is a third-generation coffee producer, microbiologist, and fermentation specialist. At his high-altitude farm Granja Paraíso 92, he experiments with innovative processing methods such as anaerobic fermentation, thermal shock, and controlled drying.

The result: coffees with a bright, complex, and expressive flavor profile, often with notes of citrus, peach, red berries, and flowers. His work has been recognized internationally: awards such as Golden Bean 2022 and Best Cup of Cauca 2023 underscore his commitment to quality. Wilton's coffees are known for their precision, vibrancy, and unique character.
