about this coffee

Ellen Fontana is the fifth generation of coffee growers in her family and took over the coffee farm with one clear question: how can I do this the right way? With a minimal intervention approach, Ellen grows coffee on only 23 of the 100 hectares of her land, between banana, avocado, and eucalyptus trees. Together with neighbors and organizations, she protects a forest of around 70,000 trees, cares for the river, and creates additional sources of income such as honey. Climate challenges and experiences reinforce her conviction: caring for nature is essential to continue producing quality coffee.

This coffee has more tropical fruit notes than you would expect from an average Brazilian coffee. Delicious as a filter coffee or espresso.

About coffee from Jimma

For over 150 years, Brazil has been the world's largest coffee producer, accounting for one-third of global production. Unlike the other small-scale coffee farms in Central America, the Brazilians were the first to set up commercial, large-scale coffee farms, mainly employing slaves to work on the plantations.

To this day, we see that this industrial, often aggressive, approach to coffee cultivation remains prevalent in Brazil. Because Brazil is such a dominant and important coffee producer in the world, the global coffee price is heavily dependent on the annual Brazilian harvest. In addition to being a major coffee producer, the government has also made many attempts to boost domestic coffee consumption, and with success.
