Preview, Congo in short

Expect an elegant, complex Ray & Jules coffee with notes of dried and red fruits such as berries, raspberry and chocolate tones. This 'preview' surprises with a distinctly delicate and spicy taste. Sustainable coffee: slow and freshly roasted using solar energy.

Fair: fair trade or direct trade

Our ultimate goal: equal and direct relationships with cooperatives and/or farmers . We want to give them ownership in the coffee chain and grow together towards climate-proof plantations.

If this is not (yet) possible, we choose FTO. Through these labels we can be sure that farmers receive support to provide for their livelihood and to invest in their coffee cultivation.

What's special
about this coffee

In this region, South Kivu, there is a lot of child labor on the coffee plantations and therefore school dropouts. That is a reason for coffee traders not to buy the coffee, which makes the situation worse. By purchasing this coffee through This Side Up, we support these farmers and can also raise awareness about child labor.

Regenerative agriculture is used to create sustainable coffee communities with improved economic, social and ecological
security.

Preview Congo is biologisch geteeld

'Preview Congo' is volledig biologisch geteeld. Desondanks heeft deze koffie, als gevolg van enkele administratieve fouten bij douanering, het biologische certificaat niet.

Producers & cooperative

This 'preview' comes from the village of Kavumu where cultivation and processing takes place at home with hand pulping machines and improvised drying equipment. The challenge here is to tackle farmers' extreme poverty through regenerative agriculture principles.

RAEK, the cooperative, was founded in 1996, is still
increasingly dependent on subsidies to survive. Despite the many challenges, RAEK has carried out excellent work in terms of quality and transparency.

Partners since: January 2024

Strong partnerships

We grow climate-resistant plantations together with local farmers.

Fresh & slow

Your coffee is slowly roasted and arrives at your door a few days later.

My new favorite. I am a big fan of the fresh taste, but I think the story behind these coffee beans is especially important, to fight together against child labor.

Heb er nog een favoriet bij!

Bij het openen van de verpakking, was de geur gewoon zalig! De eerste slok van mijn kopje was direct een schot in de roos. Perfecte samensmelting van frisse geuren en smaken. Een echte zomerkoffie.
