Sisters' Surprise. These are special discoveries by Sarah & Lieze, the roasters behind Ray & Jules. Here’s what Sarah has to say about the new Sisters' Surprise coffee from Congo:
“Eswin Tocto once gave up coffee farming because it wasn't profitable enough. Today, he's back, producing wonderful coffees and inspiring other farmers to do the same.”
Refined, with notes of walnut, plum, stone fruit, and berries.

Sisters' Surprise Peru - Eswin is a refined coffee with notes of nuts and plums. Recommended as an espresso.
Fair: fair trade or direct trade
Our ultimate goal: equal and direct relationships with cooperatives and/or farmers . We want to give them ownership in the coffee chain and grow together towards climate-proof plantations.
If this is not (yet) possible, we choose FTO. Through these labels we can be sure that farmers receive support to provide for their livelihood and to invest in their coffee cultivation.

What's special about this coffee
Two coffees. One family. A mountain full of ambition.
Deep in the mountains of Jaén, in northern Peru, lies Finca Churupampa. When we visited there last year, the Tocto family welcomed us like royalty. We traveled past beautiful coffee plantations, tucked away among the green mountain slopes, and discovered a place where people are working on the future of coffee with an incredible amount of knowledge, passion, and conviction. The story of Churupampa began in 2011, when the Tocto family decided to take a different approach to coffee farming. In a country where, for a long time, the focus had been primarily on high-volume coffee production, they wanted to demonstrate that exceptional quality, respect for nature, and a good income for farmers can go hand in hand. And that starts with the soil. At Churupampa, there is a strong commitment to regenerative agriculture and agroforestry. Coffee plants grow there among trees and other crops, which provide shade, biodiversity, and healthier soil. The family continually invests in research, new cultivation techniques, and improved processing methods. Everything is tested, measured, and adjusted, with one goal in mind: to grow ever-better coffee without depleting the soil.

uitleg
Grinding degree
Adjust your grind size to the brewing method to get the most out of your coffee. With some brewing methods, the coffee is in contact with water for a long time (requires a coarser grind), in others very short (finer grinding degree). It is therefore important that there is no over- or under-extraction. Your coffee tastes either too strong/intense or too weak/watery.
French press/cafetière: Ground
Filter and Aeropress: Ground
Bialetti/mocha pot: Finely ground
Espresso/porta filter: Finely ground
Can't find the right grind size? Or would you rather grind your own beans? With a coffee grinder, you can make your coffee exactly the way you like it. Order your coffee grinder here.
Nespresso compatibel
