Fair: fair trade or direct trade

Our ultimate goal: equal and direct relationships with cooperatives and/or farmers . We want to give them ownership in the coffee chain and grow together towards climate-proof plantations.

If this is not (yet) possible, we choose FTO. Through these labels we can be sure that farmers receive support to provide for their livelihood and to invest in their coffee cultivation.

What's special
about this coffee

To give Expressive Ezra enough 'punch', this blend consists of 30% robusta from the village of Rende Nao, on the island of Flores in Indonesia. Not only does the island have a range of unique robusta varieties, the quality of these "fine robustas" is known worldwide.

This pleasantly bitter robusta provides a full, sweet espresso with notes of nuts and caramel.

Producers & cooperative

For information about the 70% arabica from Nicargua, see Lovely Luna.

The remaining 30% robusta comes from ASNIKOM, a local cooperative from Manggarai, which processes robusta with the same machines and standards as Arabica. Both radical and intuitive. This Side Up promised to pay them the same premium as they would receive for arabica. Since 2018, the harvest has come from three families in a single village of Rende Nao.

Processing: Natural. The coffee cherries are picked by hand and immediately placed on beds between 10 and 14 days.
