Sisters' Surprise Capucas in short

The first Sisters' Surprise, perfect for espresso! Beautifully balanced, mild and accessible in taste, with a sweet hint and accents of dark chocolate, marzipan and nuts. Sustainable coffee from Ray & Jules: slow and freshly roasted on solar energy.

Fair: fair trade or direct trade

Our ultimate goal: equal and direct relationships with cooperatives and/or farmers . We want to give them ownership in the coffee chain and grow together towards climate-proof plantations.

If this is not (yet) possible, we choose FTO. Through these labels we can be sure that farmers receive support to provide for their livelihood and to invest in their coffee cultivation.

What's special
about this coffee

This cooperative consists of mostly small-scale producers. According to the general manager: “the guarantee for good agricultural practices and the best quality for our customers”. In 2016, COCAFCAL received the Fairtrade Award for “Small Producer Organization of the Year – Latin America and the Carribean” for their valuable efforts to significantly improve the living conditions of their members and their communities.

Producers & cooperative

The story begins in 1885 when Atanacio Rodolfo Romero buys some land in the Capucas region to grow tobacco and coffee for his own consumption. 75 years later, his son travels to Costa Rica and discovers quality coffee cultivation there. Back in Honduras, tobacco cultivation soon makes way for more coffee plants and Capucas becomes one of the most prominent coffee plantations in Honduras.

In 1999, local farmers unite to help each other: COCAFCAL or Cooperativa Cafetalera Capucas Limited is founded. Today the cooperative has about 700 members.

Hmmm

Mijn nieuwe favoriet!

Zonder twijfel mijn nieuwe, favoriete koffie. Spijtig dat hij tijdelijk is, maar ik ben altijd blij als ik hem toch nog een keer kan bestellen ;-)

Dankjewel voor de mooie woorden! Gelukkig blijft de Capucas nog even in het assortiment. Geniet ervan ☀️
